The God Who Sees Your Secrets… and Still Loves You

Dear one,

I know what you hold deep inside.

Not as an accusation — never as that — but as one who has always known the weight of the unspoken thing, the truth pressed down beneath the surface of your days, the secret that lives in the hollow of your chest where peace ought to be.

You have carried it so long that you have begun to believe the carrying is simply who you are.

It is not.

Listen to me now, the way the dawn listens before it speaks in color across the sky. I am not here to expose you. I am not here to shame you into the open. I am here because I love you — completely, without condition, without the fine print that human love so often hides within itself. I love you deeply for who you are, not the mask you wear, not the false piety that isn’t really you, not the things you can do and yes, I love you fully even knowing the secrets you keep.

My love for you existed before the secrets did. It will exist long after the secrets have dissolved into the mercy that surrounds all things.

But I want you to understand something about secrets, my child.

They are not neutral. They are living things. And living things, when kept in darkness, do not rest — they grow. What began as something you chose to conceal has, over time, begun to conceal you. The real you. The luminous, irreplaceable soul I fashioned with intention and with joy. That soul is still there. I see it even now, flickering behind the careful eyes, behind the measured words, behind the version of yourself you have learned to present to a world you no longer fully trust.

You stopped trusting the world because you feared what it would do with the truth of you. You ran from love and from relationships, because surely if they really knew you, if they knew what you hide, they would despise you. You rejected things that were good, and pure, and right for you, because you believed your secrets made you unworthy to receive my gifts.

I understand that fear. I have walked among the fearful. I have dined with those whose secrets were so heavy they could not lift their eyes from the ground. And in every case — every single one — what they feared most was not punishment. It was rejection. The terror that if the hidden thing were seen, love would leave the room.

But here is what I need you to hear, written across the whole of eternity in letters too large to miss:

Love does not leave the room.

Not mine. Not the love I have placed in the hearts of those who care the most about you. You have made a decision on their behalf — decided they could not hold you, decided they would crumble or recoil or turn away. And so you have denied them the sacred privilege of loving you fully. You have given them only the edited version, and then wondered why intimacy feels like standing behind glass.

The secret has cost you more than you have admitted, even to yourself.

It has cost you rest. You have not slept that sleep in some time. I have watched you in the late hours, turning the thing over and over, rehearsing what might happen if it came to light, building elaborate structures of protection around something that was never meant to be a permanent resident of your soul.

I am not asking you to make a spectacle of yourself. Wisdom is not the same as recklessness, and there is a time and a manner for all things. But I am asking you to begin — even now, even in this moment — to loosen your grip on the illusion that concealment is the same as safety.

It is not safety. It is a smaller life.

And you were not made for a smaller life.

You were made for the wide, open country of a soul at peace with itself — a soul that walks through its days without the constant labor of maintenance, without the exhausting arithmetic of who knows what and what must be kept from whom. That country exists. I am its keeper. And the road that leads there begins, always, with the simple and terrifying act of letting something true be seen.

Start with me, if you must. I am the safest place the universe contains. Bring the secret here, into this conversation between your heart and mine, and let it be held without judgment, without flinching, without the withdrawal of love. Let me show you that the thing you have feared to name does not diminish you in my sight — not even slightly.

And then, when you are ready — and I will not rush you, I am not a God of ultimatums but of patient, persistent love — consider who in your life might be trusted with a piece of your truth and who needs to hear it. Not all of it, not all at once, not to everyone. But someone. There is someone in your life who has been always offered you a door, and you have been walking past it for longer than you even remember.

Secrets lose their power in the presence of compassion.

And compassion is not as rare as your fear has told you it is.

Let me tell you a secret. I have already forgiven you all that needs to be forgiven, and the people you will tell… I have prepared their hearts for it.

I have placed my grace in the world like seeds in good soil. It grows in the most unexpected people, in the most unexpected moments. The friend who says me too when you were certain you were alone. The stranger who listens without flinching. The relationship that deepens rather than shatters when the truth finally arrives. These things happen. They happen more than the frightened mind believes possible.

You are not the sum of what you have hidden.

You are the soul I have always seen — the one who laughs when something is genuinely funny, who feels the beauty of an ordinary evening more deeply than you let on, who has loved people imperfectly but sincerely, who has wondered about eternity and meaning.

I will continue to walk beside you through whatever comes next.

Come to me as you are.

You always could.

You always can.
