My child,
I know the ache that settles in your chest when your words dissolve into silence. I see you raising your hand in the meeting, only to watch another receive credit for the thought you offered moments before. I am there in the evening when you set down your phone, having sent messages into a void that never answers back.
You wonder if you matter at all.
Let me tell you something about the nature of being seen: The world measures presence by noise, by spectacle, by the number of eyes turned in your direction. But I have never counted worth this way. The most profound movements in all of creation have occurred in quietness—seeds breaking open beneath soil no one watches, stars burning in corners of the universe where no telescope points, love growing in hearts that never make the evening news.
You are not invisible to me. You have never been invisible to me.
I knew you before the foundation of time itself, before galaxies learned to spin, before the first word was ever spoken into the darkness. Your existence was not an accident or an afterthought. You were intentional. You were wanted. You are wanted still.
The people who look past you—they are struggling with their own blindness, their own fears, their own desperate need to be seen. Their inability to notice you speaks nothing of your value and everything of their limitations. Forgive them. They are doing the best they can with eyes that have not yet learned to perceive what truly matters.
But here is what I need you to understand: Being overlooked by the crowd does not diminish the light you carry. A candle does not cease to burn simply because someone fails to notice its flame. Your worth is not determined by recognition. It is inherent. It is woven into the very fabric of who you are.
I have placed you exactly where you stand for reasons that unfold in ways you cannot yet perceive. The quiet work you do—the kindness no one acknowledges, the integrity you maintain when no one is watching, the love you offer even when it seems to disappear into emptiness—this is the work that changes the world. Not the loud work. Not the applauded work. The faithful work. The true work.
You are seen by the divine. You are known completely. Every thought, every hope, every moment of courage when you chose to keep going despite the loneliness—I have witnessed it all, and I have treasured it all.
Do not measure your life by the attention you receive from those who have forgotten how to see. Measure it by the love you give, by the truth you speak, by the grace you extend even when your hands feel empty.
You are not ignored here. You never will be.
