Christ calls His people His bride. That’s the picture He gives us. A groom who gave His whole life to love, protect, and cherish her. A love so real that He bled for her. A love so deep that He holds nothing back.
But now, He looks at His bride, and she is chasing another. She listens to the smooth words of a deceiver. She smiles at him. She gives her trust to him. She acts as if his promises can give her what her Groom has already given at the cost of His own blood.
And Christ feels it like only a groom can.
It is betrayal. It is heartbreak. It is the sickness in the stomach when you see the one you love falling into the arms of someone who doesn’t care for her at all. It is the ache of knowing she is chasing a cheap imitation when she already has the fullness of real love.
That is where the Church is now.
The current president is only the loudest face of it. He plays the strongman, but he is no savior. He courts the Church’s devotion, but not because he loves her—because he wants to use her. And far too many have been swept away, as if his lies are more true than Christ’s love.
Christ sees it. He knows what is happening. And it tears Him apart.
This is the jealousy of God. Not envy. Not weakness. But the burning grief of a Groom who will not share His bride with a fraud. The ache of knowing His beloved is being cheapened, deceived, and led away.
So when His bride swoons over a politician—or any other charlatan—it cuts Christ to the core. He feels the pit in His gut. He feels the sting of betrayal. He feels the devastation of watching the one He treasures most give herself to a one who cannot love her back.
But His jealousy doesn’t make Him leave. It doesn’t make Him wash His hands of her. His jealousy burns because His love is relentless. Because He refuses to give up. Because He will not abandon His bride, even when she betrays Him.
The deceivers will fall. Their masks will slip. Their power will crumble. Their words will rot. But the Groom will still be standing.
And one day His bride will see clearly again. She will remember who she is. She will remember who He is. She will know she was always enough for Him. And He has always been enough for her.
