In the eyes of the world, value is often counted in currencies and accomplishments, the tangible badges of success. We chase after these markers, sometimes losing ourselves in the pursuit, forgetting our intrinsic worth.
But what does Jesus say about our worth? It is a question worth exploring, a truth worth understanding.
You — right now, as you are — hold immense value. Not because of what you’ve achieved, not because of what you own, but because of who you are. You are treasured, not necessarily earthly terms but in heavenly currency.
How We Measures Value
The world measures value with a scale that often tips according to wealth, influence, and productivity. It looks at the externals — what you can provide, how you can perform, and the status you can attain.
This measurement is fleeting, often leaving hearts empty, chasing after the next big validation but still feeling an emptiness inside, or an unquenchable desire for more.
How Jesus Measures Value
Contrast this with how Jesus measures your worth. His metric is not based on your portfolio, your social circle, or even your earthly virtues. Jesus once said, “Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than sparrows.” (Luke 12:6-7).
In these words lies a declaration of your value to God, straight from the mouth of God. To Him, you are worth more than the grandest treasures of this earth.
Jesus measures value not by accumulation but by creation. Each person, each soul is crafted with intention and care, infused with talents, dreams, and potential, not for the purpose of gain but for the expression of God’s own image. In this light, every life is a masterpiece, every heartbeat a symphony of divine intention.
What Would Jesus Say About Your Worth?
Imagine Jesus speaking directly to you, piercing the veil of how others value you and how you value yourself.
“You are worth more than the greatest of earthly treasures. In you, I see a creation without comparison, worth my own life.” He proved this on the cross, a place where divine love and human value were etched together forever in redemptive grace.
This message, radiant and clear, is that you are valued beyond measure. Not by the standards of the world, but by the measure of the cross where Jesus demonstrated once and for all the extent of His love and the true worth of your soul.
Let this truth sink deep into your heart — in the economy of heaven, you hold a value that is irreplaceable, cherished, and eternally significant. Jesus knows your worth, and in knowing, He invites you to see yourself through His eyes —a value that never diminishes.
