Sometimes it feels like everyone’s always arguing about something these days. Whether it’s politics, social issues, or whatever’s trending on social media, it feels like there’s always a new “us vs. them” issue popping up. It’s exhausting, isn’t it? Sometimes, it is hard for followers of Jesus to not get sucked into this new war games.

Except, they aren’t new. Jesus’ disciples were frequently sucked into debates and arguments that Jesus didn’t even touch.

What Would Jesus Do… Really?

When we get back to basics and look at what Jesus taught, it’s pretty clear He wasn’t about fueling these fires. His message was all about love, kindness, and understanding—not picking sides in a shouting match. He was the guy who sat down with people everyone else avoided and chose compassion over condemnation every time.

So, how do we keep our cool and stay true to our faith when everyone around us is picking a side? It’s about remembering who we’re really following here. It’s not about being on the “right side” of an argument; it’s about living the way Jesus lived, which means leading with love, even when it’s tough.

We don’t follow a pastor, a church, a set of rules, or a political agenda. We follow a man who lived 2,000 years ago and still lives today.

The People God Created Are Part of ‘The Culture’ You Are Feuding With

Jesus was all about engaging with the world, not running away from it. But there’s a big difference between being present in the moment and getting sucked into the drama. We can care about issues, have opinions, and even take action, but we do it with grace and a boatload of empathy, trying to see where the other person is coming from.

Think about it: if Jesus texted you in the middle of a heated debate, He’d probably remind you that we’re all a bit lost and could use a little kindness. He’d say something like, “Hey, remember, it’s not about winning an argument; it’s about showing love, even when it’s hard.” Jesus said “blessed are the peacemakers,” not “Glory belongs to the hotheads.”

Walking the Walk, Together

At the end of the day, following Jesus means trying to be a light in a world that can get pretty dark. But it isn’t dark because “they” are out to get “us.” It’s dark because it needs the love of a loving God. It’s about finding peace in His teachings and sharing that peace with others, even when everyone around us seems to be choosing chaos.

So, let’s not get too bogged down by all the noise. Let’s focus on what really matters— being kind, understanding, and, most of all, loving, just like He taught us. He said they would know us by our love. Not by our political positions or our power.

In a nutshell, let’s not lose ourselves in the craziness of culture wars. Let’s keep our eyes on Jesus, find our strength in His peace, and live out that love He’s all about. We don’t serve a political party, an agenda, or a harsh philosophy. We serve a King and a Kingdom — and our King said to love.
